Flyers extended 31 year-old defenseman Nick Seeler at the deadline with a 4 year contract.

Seeler is a solid defenseman known for his defensive play and shot blocking ability. The 31 year-old signed a four year contract with an average value of $2.7 million per year.

The Flyers defenseman spoke to the media about what the contract means to him, stating that he is proud to be a Flyer and is extremely happy after fighting for a long-term contract his entire career.

"It means everything to me," he said. "I've just been fighting for that contract my whole career, and it's life-changing. It means the world to me to be in a place where I feel respected and the direction this group's going, I'm so excited to be a part of it. The contract extension this year meant the world to me."

Prior to his injury, Seeler led the league in blocked shots and hopefully next year he will be able to play a full season, helping the Flyers make the playoffs.
