After several weeks of speculation and rumors around the NHL, it was revealed today that the Edmonton Oilers won the Corey Perry sweepstakes.

The beleaguered winger, who was released from the Chicago Blackhawks after an incident involving a company party decided to make the move back to Canada and to team up with Connor McDavid.

According to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet, Perry will sign a prorated deal which will include performance bonuses that will bridge himself for the rest of the year.

It remains to be seen on how general manager Ken Holland will fit Perry's contract as the team only has $146,000 in cap space. This could involve a trade or players heading down to the Bakersfield Condors which will give the room needed. It's also unknown what the number is in terms of cap hit for the remainder of the year.

Perry will certainly help the Oilers as his aggressive style of play along with his ability to penalty kill and score goals at the age of 38. Perry now can close the door to his Blackhawks chapter and now be in a position to try for another Stanley Cup.
