Former Flyer Named Blues' 24th Captain
St. Louis, MO - Brayden Schenn, a former Philadelphia Flyer, has been appointed as the 24th captain in the history of the St. Louis Blues. This news has not only thrilled Blues fans but also garnered support from his former Flyers' fan base.
Schenn, who played seven seasons with the Blues, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, acknowledging the weight of the captaincy and the franchise's rich history of great leaders.
"I don't think it has set in yet, to be honest," Schenn humbly stated. "The history of this franchise, the great captains they've had, and now getting your own name added to that extraordinary list, it's a huge honor that I'm thankful for. The Blues had been without a captain since Ryan O'Reilly's departure to the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. General Manager Doug Armstrong approached Schenn and offered him the prestigious role, to which Schenn responded,
"Honestly, your first initial reaction is how big of an honor it is."
Schenn brings a wealth of experience to the captaincy at 32 years old, having been an assistant captain for the Blues for the past three seasons. In his tenure with the Blues, he has accumulated 341 points, showcasing his significant contribution to the team's success.
