Dominik Simon, NHL player most recently with the Anaheim Ducks, has been relieved of his duties with the Czech national team, whom he was representing at the hockey World Championships.

It appears that Simon had a conflict with a teammate which he has now admitted to instigating.

"Dominik left the World Championships after a tough season due to personal and family reasons after two games with the national team," said the statement. "The nerves and emotions from his on-ice and personal life carried over off the ice when he tried to instigate a fight with a teammate."

The teammate in question turned out to be defenceman Filip Hronek from the Detroit Red Wings.

"While it wasn't anything personal, unfortunately there was physical contact as well," the statement continued... "Dominik agreed with the Czech National Team to leave the championship for personal reasons."

Although not much is known surrounding the nature of the incident, it seems as though they had an argument which turned physical. It must have caused a rift in the team for the management to dismiss him.

Simon, 27 is currently a free agent and ended the season with the Ducks after being a part of the Rakell trade at the deadline. It's not unusual for teammates to argue but for it to turn physical at the national stage is uncommon.

Hopefully, the pair handled it with between themselves and can focus on what they need to do this offseason.

Simon is now back at home resting and doing well, according to his statement.
