Former Flyers defenseman expected to get a raise.

Former Flyers defenseman expected to get a raise.

When it comes to the career of Radko Gudas, one word comes to mind, toughness. He has become a dependable defenceman that sought out by many teams at the trade deadline. He seems to elevate his game to become a playoff performer And is an important role player.

He is on a magical run with the Florida Panthers as they have defied all odds and are one win away from the Stanley Cup finals. The Panthers have knocked off the best team in the history of the league that is the Boston Bruins, the Toronto Maple Leafs and now potentially the Carolina Hurricanes.

According to the 50 top unrestricted free agents list from dailyfaceoff.com, they place Gudas in the 22nd position. They feel that he will be awarded a three-year x 3.3 million contract next season.

I feel that would be a fair raise for a player who is 33 years old and is beginning to play on the downswing of his career.

He has lots of gas in the tank because of his playoff performances alone or showing he has no signs of slowing down. Teams do not want to lock themselves too high into a player who has aged and may pose a liability later on cap-wise.

Whoever signs him will need to remain cap friendly so that he could be traded at the deadline once again for another cup run.
COULD THE FLYERS LOOK AT RADKO GUDAS AGAIN THIS OFFSEASON?
