Felix Sandstrom was sent on waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers, ending their run with a three-goalie system.

In a surprise move, Sandstrom cleared waivers, likely reporting to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL.

In spite of being available for 24 hours, no NHL teams claimed Sandstrom, which is surprising.

As the Edmonton Oilers needed goaltending help, you'd think Ken Holland would grab a cheap goalie, but he didn't.

Based on his stats, Sandström wouldn't seem to be a likely waiver claim for anybody.

But maybe the Flyers have inside info that there is at least one team out there really high on him, and that's why they've hesitated this long? That's the only way I see him getting nabbed.

After not appearing in any games for a month, Sandstrom suffered an upper-body injury with the Phantoms and has not played since.

On November 4th, despite being on injured reserve and getting reps, he was called up to the big club.

Can confirm that Felix Sandstrom did clear waivers.

Presumably, he'll now be sent down to the AHL.

He posted a 3-12-3 record and a 3.72 GAA and .880 save percentage as Carter Hart's back-up last season. It would be Ersson who would secure the backup position after training camp in 2023-2024.

Sandstrom however, is due to become an UFA at the end this season.
