ONE OF THE GREATEST TRADITIONS IN HOCKEY TOOK PLACE LAST NIGHT

BY KEVIN GARCIA
The Calgary Hitmen, of the WHL, have one of the best traditions in all of hockey.

That tradition is the annual teddy bear toss. Each year Calgary hosts game in which teddy bears are thrown on the ice in masses following the team's first goal.

The opening goal lit the lamps and teddy bears immediately started flying onto the ice.

In total, there were 20,294 bears thrown onto the ice. What is so great about this tradition is that every one of those teddy bears will be given to local agencies to be used as Christmas gifts for children in the area.

The goal was cored by London Hoilett, who took the time to cherish the moment.

This is a great tradition that has brought 438,139 teddy bears to children of the Calgary area since 1995.
