Flyers and the Islanders meet again in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center for their final meeting in the preseason. Coach John Tortorella decided to leave a number of players off the roster for tonight and get some other players some time on the ice. Although, the Flyers lose this game in overtime and finish with a 1-5 record, there are some positive things to take from this preseason game. Let's get into it.

Ersson shuts down the Islanders; continues to impress

Samuel Ersson has continued to make his case for backup role, even if Felix Sandstrom was healthy. Going 57-60 on shots faced and stopping all 15 he faced tonight, adding a save percentage of .950. Incredible numbers for a goalie who was even considered for the backup role.

Kevin Hayes looks healthy-Good Sign

One of the key players on this team is going to be Kevin Hayes. A ton of question marks surrounding him but when playing in the opportunities he was given, he certainly showed up. Snagging an assist tonight on the Owen Tippett goal and looking extremely crisp on the ice. I would say he is fully healthy and ready to take lead for this Flyers roster.

Cam York Slip slides away

One of my top guys i have been following for a few years now has shown that even he can make some mistakes. While defending on the Powerplay, young defenseman Cam York allows an Islander to slip him right out of position to score a shorthanded goal. One that certainly York should have defended well. This is not a shot at York, but a learning point that positioning is extremely important for the defenseman.

Flyers Next game will be the season opener on October 13 against the New Jersey Devils.
