REPORT: THE LATEST ON FLYERS' CAM ATKINSON'S INJURY

NOV 24, 2022  (0H26)      SKY
This time, injuries to the forward corps have ravaged the Philadelphia Flyers. Six members of their starting lineup are now out due to injuries, including Cam Atkinson, who is out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury incurred during training camp despite not officially being on injured reserve.

But now a clearer chronology is beginning to emerge. According to Anthony Di Marco of The Fourth Period, the club is hopeful that Atkinson will make his season debut before the first day of the new year.

Nobody knows for sure when that comeback will really occur, though. According to Di Marco, the company is uncertain if Atkinson will return within the next week or inside the next month. It is clear that the Flyers are exercising caution, especially in light of their recent spate of unlucky injuries.

John Tortorella, the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets, who guided Atkinson for the duration of his ten seasons there, has yet to coach Atkinson in a regular-season game. Under Tortorella, Atkinson had a career-high 41 goals and 69 points in 2018–19.

Although the rest of the Flyers had a difficult season last year, Atkinson actually had his greatest game since that time in Columbus. His 50 points, 23 goals, and 27 assists all ranked second on the Flyers.

Tortorella's Flyers have a far better record this year, but much of that improvement may be attributed to Carter Hart's outstanding goaltending. The Flyers have scored 46 goals through 18 games, which places them 26th in the NHL. The squad is now at.500 and is still a long shot to make the playoffs, but Atkinson's return and a 25- to 30-goal pace might boost their dwindling prospects.
WILL CAM ATKINSON MAKE A IMPACT ONCE RETURNED FROM HIS INJURY?
