The Flyers are Interested In Former Flyers Goaltenders Son
This leaves Tyler Boucher, a Senators draft pick in 2021, as the odd man out in the Senators' system.
According to Elliott Friedman of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, the Senators are looking to sell Matthieu Joseph's contract.
A team interested in picking up the contract is the Philadelphia Flyers, who are looking for something of value in exchange for taking on the cap hit.
Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts Podcast;
«I think they've (Flyers) been going back and forth with Ottawa about Mathieu Joseph, for one thing I do think Philly likes the player. I've heard that Philly actually sees a role and a use for Joseph there that's good news for both Joseph and the Sens.» Elliotte Friedman said. «I don't have it confirmed so I'm not going to say who it is, I do think Philly targeted a specific prospect and Ottawa said no to that that's what Philly has said, look, if you want to do business here, the price is going to be high. We'll see what Ottawa does.»

In the original plan, Danny Briere and the Flyers were looking to bring in Shane Pinto to the fold. It is entirely possible that Tyler Boucher is the one they are looking for. The Senators will, however, re-sign Pinto, so they had no choice but to pivot.
As a return for taking on Joseph's contract, the Flyers would like Bouchet, a high-value asset.
GM Pierre Dorion, however, isn't entirely convinced.
With the Ottawa 67's in the OHL, Boucher only scored 31 points in 45 games, so his production isn't what we'd picture as a high-value asset.
Former goalie Brian Boucher might be driving talk, as he's an analyst for TNT and NBC Sports Philadelphia as well as a former Flyer.
Belleville coach David Bell noted Boucher should be fine and is recovering;
«Just to be pre-cautious, we're going to keep him out for this rookie camp,» David Bell said. «We fully expect him to be ready for main camp. He had skated all week, but just in fitness testing something tweaked so he will not go.»

It hasn't helped Boucher's cause that he's been injured lately as he suffered a groin injury during Wednesday's test, and his shoulder injury shortened his season before that.
At present, the Senators have just under $121,000 in cap space, but the Flyers will have more once Ryan Ellis hits LTIR, they will have over $897,905.
This deal would benefit both teams as far as depth is concerned, and the Flyers will look for a way to make it work.
