The injury bug has bitten the Flyers' training camp.

Sustaining injuries during training camp is nothing new for any NHL organization. It's par for the course as players return from their summer break and begin to shake off the rust from their rest while soaking up the sun's rays.

Training camps can be gruelling and taxing on the body as players work to regain their conditioning from the previous year. Head coach John Tortorella's training camp is known for being one of the toughest in the NHL, so it's no surprise that some players end up injured.

According to Ian Laperriere, the head coach of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, who is working with Tortorella on training camp, it appears that defenseman Cam York has sustained an injury. However, it has been reported that the injury is not serious.




York, who was drafted in the first round, 14th overall in 2019, was one of the most dependable defensemen during last year's campaign. He played 54 games, scoring two goals with 18 assists for 20 points, and had a -1 rating. It is widely expected that Tortorella will rely on York once again to become a top-four defenseman in the next few seasons.

It has also been reported that Cam Atkinson, the Flyers' forward who has been plagued by injuries, sustained an injury as well. However, he appears to be okay and was seen walking fine after he visited the gym.

This player will be closely monitored for injuries this year, as he has struggled to stay healthy. With a cap hit of $5.875 million per season for the next two years, the Flyers may need to consider moving on from him if he cannot improve his health.
