Nic Deslauriers signed a four-year deal with the Philadelphia Flyers, with an AAV of $1.75 million in 2022.

Deslauriers is essentially hired muscle on the ice without offering much offensively for the team, so many fans didn't think the deal was worth it.

DONE DEAL: #MNWild re-signs Marcus Foligno to four-year, $4M AAV contract extension.

He was primarily hired for his defensive style of play since he had 13 points and 113 PIMs prior to joining the Flyers.

The long-term value of his contract may outweigh that of Marcus Foligno's Minnesota Wild deal.

After a fantastic season in 2021, Foligno has been struggling ever since.

After his 42-point season in 2021, Foligno only scored 21 points last year and excelled in PIMS with 97 in 2022-2023.

Unlike Foligno, Deslaurier does not have any preconceived notions about his offensive ability, and he is paid as a fourth-line grinder.
