Toronto Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds has had a rough go this season, the Maple Leafs management decided before the 2022-23 year started that Simmonds will be deemed the ''odd one out'', and will not crack the opening night roster.

They contradicted their own statement multiple times, sending Wayne Simmonds down to the American Hockey League more then once, where they would then call him back up just days later.

Simmonds is on a very friendly contract at the moment and it's a shame no team wants to give him a full-time role, Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas stated he is willing to send Simmonds somewhere he would be happy playing for, but no teams phoned him regarding Simmonds.

Although a NHL insider revealed one Canadian team was seriously thinking about acquiring Simmonds, but it sadly fell through..

It was revealed that the Edmonton Oilers and general manager Ken Holland was in deep talks with management to acquire Simmonds, but it sadly fell through.

The team who acquires Simmonds is not at risk of many, it is a high reward situation though if he can perform well with the teams' system.

The 34-year old may look at possible retirement if he cannot find a full-time home within the next little while.
