Matvei Michkov shocks many with seconds left on the clock.

Matvei Michkov's short professional hockey career has had its share of ups and downs.

He was considered a controversial choice during the 2023 NHL Entry Draft due to his home country's ongoing war with Ukraine and his home country's decisions on potentially not allowing young Russian players to play for teams overseas.

The Flyers believed that he was the right choice at 7th overall, and they welcomed him into the organization. Since the draft, there has been some controversy overseas regarding Michkov and his coach. He was scratched several times and was loaned to Sochi, where he has been shining ever since.

In the dying seconds of a game against Barys Astana, Michkov displayed his scoring prowess as he fired a one-timer past their goalie.



In his fourteen games with Sochi, he has scored seven goals, recorded seven assists for a total of 14 points, and accumulated 12 penalty minutes.

Let's hope that he will be able to join the Flyers sooner rather than later.
