Sadly, with his impressive breakout season last year the Senators are unable to pay him after handing out a massive contract to their rookie defensemen, Jake Sanderson, which carries an annual average of $8.05M per year over the next many years.
Elliotte Friedman, a respected NHL insider, recently suggested that Philadelphia could be an ideal trade partner for Ottawa in a potential deal involving Pinto. The key factor driving this speculation is Ottawa's need to shed salary as part of any trade involving the talented young center.
