According to Anthony SanFilippo of the Snow The Goalie podcast, the Flyers are among several teams expressing keen interest in Shane Pinto, the unsigned Ottawa center who is currently a restricted free agent (RFA).
Pinto, at just 22 years old, made a notable impact with the Ottawa Senators last season, amassing an impressive 35 points, including 20 goals and 15 assists, over 82 games. His performance has caught the attention of several NHL teams, with the Flyers being a prominent suitor. Sadly, with his impressive breakout season last year the Senators are unable to pay him after handing out a massive contract to their rookie defensemen, Jake Sanderson, which carries an annual average of $8.05M per year over the next many years.
Elliotte Friedman, a respected NHL insider, recently suggested that Philadelphia could be an ideal trade partner for Ottawa in a potential deal involving Pinto. The key factor driving this speculation is Ottawa's need to shed salary as part of any trade involving the talented young center.
As the trade winds continue to blow, Flyers fans will be watching closely to see if Shane Pinto could soon be donning the orange and black, bringing his skills to the City of Brotherly Love.
