The Philadelphia Flyers' recent decision to place Wade Allison on waivers and send him to AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley raised eyebrows among fans and players alike. Joel Farabee, who shares a residence with Allison, expressed his disappointment with the move.

"It definitely sucks," Farabee said. "Being his friend, being his teammate, too, I was talking to him yesterday and I think the positive is if he does get picked up, he gets to go play. If he doesn't, he gets to play a bunch of minutes for Lehigh."

Farabee acknowledged the surprise factor, stating, "It definitely sucks." He emphasized his friendship with Allison and their time together as teammates. Farabee tried to uplift Allison's spirits after the news broke. Farabee also stated Allison could take on a full time role on an NHL roster if he got picked up, but he did not.
The 22-year-old forward believes that Allison's strengths shine when he has the puck on his stick, making plays. He praised Allison's all-around game, including shot-blocking and supporting his teammates.

The Flyers' management seems to have confidence in their prospects like Bobby Brink and Tyson Foerster. Additionally, the team's offseason signings and improved health have impacted the decision to send Allison to the AHL.
"I really feel like for him, his best game is when he has the puck on his stick and he's making plays. Hopefully he gets the chance to do that soon. I think he's a really good player. He plays the right way, blocks shots, fights for his teammates. He does a lot of the little things."

Farabee recognized the business aspect of hockey, acknowledging the competitiveness within the Flyers' pipeline of prospects. Despite the disappointment, he highlighted the positives, including the depth of young talent pushing for spots on the roster.
"It definitely sucks, but at the end of the day, it's a business," Farabee said. "I think it's a credit to how good our pipeline of prospects is, with how many young guys are pushing for spots. With all the negative and how bad it sucks, I think there are definitely some positives from it, too."

Flyers fans will be closely watching how Allison's journey unfolds and if he gets the opportunity to showcase his skills in the NHL once again.
