KHL officials have done something nobody expected, according to recent reports. It seemed like the league would not relent after the Ivan Fedotov contract debacle.

Sergei Ivanov, a recent Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick, has now had his contract terminated by the KHL. In 2023, the Jackets drafted Ivanov 138th overall in the 5th round.

Per the #KHL, SKA has terminated the contract of #CBJ prospect Sergei Ivanov and he signs a new two-year contract with them which runs till the end of the 2024-25 season.

It was reported earlier that he'll join Admiral on loan.

Could the Philadelphia Flyers bring Matvei Michkov over in the same way in light of this information?

Due to the news, Ivanov was supposed to have been loaned out to Admiral Vladivostok in the KHL.

Could Michkov and his agent use this as an out to get him to the NHL sooner next season?

Considering all the problems the KHL has been giving the NHL recently, this is an exciting concept.
