The Arizona Coyotes have endured a tumultuous season, facing setbacks such as losing the Tempe vote and one of their star players losing faith in the franchise.

Despite these challenges, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman remains hopeful about the future of hockey in the desert. However, he is not referring to the successful Vegas model.
Bettman stated that the Arizona Coyotes are exploring other options within the Phoenix area, with the hope that one of these options will work out. This opens the door for potential relocation, giving the franchise another chance.

Arizona Coyotes are exploring other options in greater Phoenix area, says Bettman. Hope is that one of those options works out.
Yet, given the franchise's troubled history, one must question if they truly deserve this opportunity. It appears that the situation has gone beyond mere incompetence and suggests a deliberate decision to let things deteriorate.
Furthermore, it raises the question of whether there is genuine interest in hockey in the desert. Playing in a college arena may not be enough to sustain NHL revenue or support player salaries.
While there is talk of relocating the team to Phoenix, one cannot help but wonder if cities like Houston or Quebec would serve as better alternatives. The future of the Coyotes hangs in the balance, and it remains to be seen what path they will ultimately choose.
