The NHL trade deadline may seem far off, but it really isn't. In just four months, several significant trades will likely be completed, and one of those deals might involve Patrick Kane, the star player for the Blackhawks.

Kane and his agent have both voiced their positions, and until they follow up with the general manager of the Blackhawks in January, it is unclear where Kane stands.

However, unless Patrick Kane makes a clear choice for himself and decides to waive his no-movement clause for a trade or until the off-season when he becomes a free agent, none of those things really matter as Kane has the final say on where he would like to go, or what he wants to do.

With regard to the above claim, "Kane will do what he wants to do," some of his recent statements put this into question.

The New York Rangers, who also have Kane's best buddy Artemi Panarin, are one team that has taken the lead in the Patrick Kane trade rumour destination sweepstakes.

When asked if he would like a reunion with his old teammate Artemi Panarin, Patrick Kane said that he would, but he also mentioned another player he would want to play with.

According to Scott Powers, Kane replied,

The Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers may very well take such hints more seriously;  both teams would likely create the cap space necessary for a star franchise player like Patrick Kane.

When asked about Kane's response, Panarin responded as follows:«He's a grown-up guy, he can make the decisions,» Panarin said. «I wish him to make the right decision for himself, his family. Can't say much else.»
