The Flyers have not made a choice regarding their goaltender for next season. While Carter Hart is the cornerstone of their goaltending, it's important for any team to have a decent backup goalie, especially for a club like the Flyers, cursed with injuries.
Martin Jones was on a one-year contract and is unlikely to re-sign even with some great performances at the end of the season. The best suitor is Ivan Fedotov. The young prospect is currently playing between the posts for CSKA Moscow and is having an incredible season.
On Monday, his team won 3-1 in the Cup Finals. Fedotov is now 13-3, with a 1.64 GAA, and a .942 save percentage in the KHL playoffs. He's also the best goalie of the conference final of the Gagarin Cup playoffs. Fedotov is the best at protecting his net and he may be the MVP for the KHL 2022 Playoffs.
He is a top-quality asset for the Flyers and according to some, he has the potential to become even better than Carter Hart. Bringing him aboard is the best possible move for the Flyers, they will have two quality goaltenders and create a healthy competition between the two, bringing the best out of both.
