Let's be clear, Chuck Fletcher will have the chance to prove that he's the right person for the Flyers. But since the hiring of Daniel Brière as Special Assistant to the GM, discussions around Fletcher's future have heated up.

If the team continues to struggle next year, even after big changes this summer, could Fletcher be sacked by the organization? It's probable. And it will be at that time that Brière could take the General Manager position.
The next big step for Fletcher will be the Draft and the free agency this summer. I think that he did pretty well considering the circumstances at the latest trade deadline. If things go well this summer, and that the team has a good season, Fletcher will stay.
If it isn't the case, Fletcher will probably be out by the trade deadline in order to leave the next GM (possibly Brière) do things his own way.
We're still pretty far from it, but that's something that we will have to keep an eye on. Since Fletcher became GM of the Flyers, the team has only made the playoffs once in three seasons.
