The last two weeks for the Maple Leafs organization and Kyle Dubas has to be one of the weirdest ever seen in the last number of years. He scheduled to finish negotiations on a five-year contract just days before he was fired by President Brendan Shanahan.

However, as all of the NHL witnessed, this quickly derailed and he was out stirred as GM by the end of the week. A few days afterwards it was widely reported that Dubas flew to Pittsburgh after the Penguins were granted permission to speak to Kyle Dubas for their general manager job.

Dubas even went one step further and spoke to Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby to get his view on where he feels the team is going while getting a tour of the facilities and the organization.

It appears that they offered the job which he may have turned down. This is a stunning turn of events as this job seems to be a lock for Dubas.

It's worth noting, that he did mention in his press conference with the Maple Leafs that he would not go anywhere else. The fact he flew to Pittsburgh and talked to the team that's not the case.

Frank Seravalli reports that he did turn it down and that the Penguins are now engaging with other candidates who they have interviewed before talking to Dubas.

There are also thoughts he is waiting to see what will happen with the Ottawa Senators as their new ownership group is about to be announced soon. There were many rumours throughout the web that Dubas would like to become the general manager and president of the Ottawa Senators even though Pierre Dorion is currently the boss in charge.

It's safe to say that this has been a wild few weeks for Dubas and his family. With all the media attention and comments made by the former general manager, one would think he would not want to put more pressure on his family while going through all this rigamarole.
