The Philadelphia Flyers success this season has in large part been due to both head coach John Tortorella and 2024 NHL All-Star Travis Konecny who has been a leader both on the ice and in the locker room. Despite some criticism Tortorella has received from the media, Travis Konecny had an interesting sentiment regarding his bench boss during the 2024 NHL All-Star media day.

"I think Torts does a good job breaking in players habits and following down the same path. He does a good job with everybody."

Konecny echoed what we have heard all season long from the Flyers locker room, that Tortorella has been able to instill confidence in his young squad, while also being able to hold them accountable and get them to play to a standard and hold themselves accountable.
The Flyers 2024 All-Star's success has been in large part due to Tortorella's coaching on the penalty kill. The Flyers are among the best in the league on the penalty kill, led by Konecny.

The Flyers rank among the top ten in the league in the penalty kill as they have a kill percentage above 80% and lead the NHL in shorthanded goals. Their penalty kill has even been renamed a "power kill" because of the success the team has had in that area.
Konecny is the sole leader of this group, leading the NHL in shorthanded goals with five of his 22 goals coming on the power kill. Konecny is currently on pace for the best season in his career as he skates into the All-Star break already with 42 points on 22 goals and 20 assists.
Will Konecny reach 70 points for the first time in his NHL career this season?
