Sean Couturier is one player that comes to mind when you think who is most deserving of the Flyers captain role, in the 2019-20 season Couturier received 163 out of 170 votes and earned himself the Selke trophy over other elite finalists such as Patrice Bergeron, Ryan O'Reilly and others. The Selke trophy is awarded to the best defensive forward throughout the entire NHL.

Coots has recently built up a resume of recent injuries, and they seem to pile up year after year, his full injury list can be seen below:
DATE - INJURY
9/19/22 - Back
2/11/22 - Back
3/20/21 - Hip
1/15/21 - Chest
9/2/20 - Knee
12/8/18 - Lower body
4/17/18 - Lower-body injury

Couturier was in question to miss the entirety of the Flyers 2022-23 season *if* he required surgery to fix his herniated disc, thankfully Coots did not require surgery and was prepared to have a recovery time of under a month.
But now his return seems uncertain as the Flyers have absolutely zero timetable on Coots' return.
