The Peterborough Petes have had a rich history with the OHL since their adoption in 1956. This organization has created and produced excellent players for the NHL over many decades and won one Memorial Cup in 1979.

They are currently trying to win their second one and battling with three other teams the Kamloops Blazers, the Quebec Remparts and the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Tonight they were playing the Blazers and ended up going down by a three-goal deficit. The Petes thought they were down and out but they managed to get themselves together and dig themselves out of this hole and ended up winning the game 5-4.

Among the Flyers prospects, the who scored the goal was J.R. Avon.

He literally broke the fan base of the Blazers, and made a few players.... cry?

In 2022, Avon, who was undrafted, signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Flyers.

During his year with the Petes, he played 59 games, scored 29 goals with 31 assists for 60 points has 28 penalty minutes and was a + 21. During these playoffs, he has played 23 games, scored nine goals with six assists for 15 points and 10 penalty minutes.

The 19-year-old centre will certainly get a better look at when he will join the Lehigh Valley Phantoms when training camp will begin in September.

But with this kind of play, he'll likely be looked at by general manager Danny Briere and head coach John Tortorella but the possibility of being on their lineup.
