As a result of Nikita Zadarov's request for a trade after Calgary Flames' loss to Toronto Maple Leafs, he is currently one of the more attractive trade targets.

A few teams are interested in acquiring Zadarov from the Flames, which may lead to Zadarov being the first to go.
Among them is the New Jersey Devils, who are nearing the end of their rebuild. It would be problematic if the Devils added Zadarov to their roster, since they already rank amongst the top teams in the league.

In 2022-2023, Zadarov played a full season for the Calgary Flames, posting 14 goals, 21 points, 80 PIMS, and 174 hits.
If Tom Fitzgerald pulls this off, it'll be yet another coup for the Devils, who have been trade partners with the Flames already.
