Sometimes, a draft pick can change the face of a franchise for decades.

It has been the case for the Edmonton Oilers with the selection of Connor McDavid, back in 2015. It has been the case of the Pittsburgh Penguins when they drafted Sidney Crosby in 2005.
But you have to be bad to have this opportunity. And it is exactly what the Flyers are and what they should be next season if Chuck Fletcher didn't want to make an aggressive rebuild.
Why should the Flyers be bad next season?

Excellent question. It's simple: Connor Bedard will be the obvious first overall pick at next year's draft. And the team that will draft him will have a player in the same category as McDavid.
In his final game of the season yesterday, the young winger scored his 50th goal of the year - he became the youngest player in WHL history to do so. He has 100 points in 62 games. At 16 years old, it's just ridiculous how good this kid is.
