Chuck Fletcher brought in John Tortorella to give a rebuilding team that needed discipline. One of these goals Tortorella preach is playing a full 200-foot game and Philadelphia needs all the help they can get.

Tortorella fell out of favor in 2020 with the Columbus Blue Jackets, after losing Pierre-Luc Dubois and favor of the locker room shortly after. Is he repeating the same mistakes in Philadelphia?
John Tortorella won't coach again tonight. Brad Shaw will take up his responsibilities, just as he did against the Senators. Calls it good development for his assistants.

"I do think players need a different voice. I'm tired of hearing myself. I can imagine how they feel."

It is unheard of for John Tortorella to scratch himself, given how quickly he will scratch Travis Konecny and Kevin Hayes, but here we are-round 2 of Tortorella taking the night off.
It is the ultimate irony of ironies, that after all his successes in Columbus, he might be replicating the same failures as if he's already lost the room in Philadelphia it will yet again be another mess for Briere to clean up.
Brad Shaw was also a part of the same coaching team that was a short-term success in Columbus, but is it possible here? We'll wait and see, until then John Tortorella rides pine in the pressbox.
