NHL Adds Digital Board Ads - Hard on The Eyes For Viewers

The NHL is adding even more advertising to its content this season. This year, all ads displayed on the boards during televised games will feature a new AI technology called digitally enhanced dasherboards (DED). With this new technology, the ads on the boards are more visible and larger than ever before. It replaces in real time the ads that are already on the boards.

Every 30 seconds, the advertising is replaced. This rotation creates space for more advertising per game. In addition, large companies can buy consecutive board slots, for example, to announce their new products.
As Le Devoir's Alain McKenna reports, with DED, each team can now show ads for its hometown companies on TV during away games.
"With this technology, we have gained 30 more games of advertising," said Hubert Richard, senior vice president of corporate sales for the Montreal Canadiens.

The NHL noted that although the advertising is larger than before, 2/3 of amateurs surveyed consider the DED technology to be of high quality, and it is not difficult to watch the game

I'm not convinced yet...
Many denounced the NHL's continued desire to include advertising in its content. We have to face the facts that this is necessary for the survival and growth of the league, whether we as viewers want it or not. This is just the beginning.
