NHL Players Vote on a Significant Overtime Change

I think most fans can agree that during the regular season shootouts are a pretty annoying way for a game to end. The shootout was originally added back in 2005 as a way to see what team gets the win after five-minutes of overtime.

Recently more players especially McDavid have voiced their opinions on their thoughts about a game being decided in the shootout, McDavid would go on to say «It's a crappy way to end the game» and brought up how doing a 10 min 3-on-3 would be better instead.

The Athletic's NHL put out a player poll in which the players voted 12-4 to expand overtime to 10 minutes. Also the players voted 14-2 to not expand the playoffs as recently there have been discussions regarding expanding the playoffs.
