According to Bill Meltzer of The Flyer Alumni Association, an blogger for Hockeybuzz, the Flyers are terminating Linus Hoberg's contract. Hoberg, who has been scratched numerous times for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, is slated to clear waivers and will return to Sweden.

The 24-year-old defenseman, who stands at 6 foot 176 pounds, was drafted in the 2016 NHL draft, fifth round, 139th overall. In his shortened career, he played five games for the Flyers in the 2021-2022 season, Where he had two assists in two penalty minutes.

His departure from the team will open the Flyers to 48 out of 50 contracts, giving general manager Chuck Fletcher some breathing room To either call up someone from The Phantoms or go out on the trade market and pick up a player or two.

The Flyers currently sit six points out of a playoff spot and have 53 points. Many factors will have to come into effect for the playoffs to be a reality; however, I feel the Flyers will be sellers at the deadline, and their aggressive retool will begin.
