At today's media availability, Scott Laughton and interim head coach Mike Yeo responded to the allegations made by two of the team's long term staff concerning exposure to cancer causing fumes at their practice facility.
Giana Han, Flyers beat reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer, spoke to Laughton about Jim McCrossin and Sal Raffa, two people he knows very well and who are fighting terminal cancer diagnoses.

«We asked Scott Laughton about how he has been doing, emotionally, considering his long-time trainers Jim McCrossin and Sal Raffa are fighting terminal diagnoses. He said he couldn't speak on specifics but he tries to be a good friend to everyone on staff.»

Laughton, who has been with the first team since the 2012-2013 season knows the pair well.
«Yea, can't really speak on any specifics. But I'll touch on when I was signing my deal last year, I reiterated it. I love the staff here. When you're in a place for 8-10 years, you build really close friendships with people. So, yeah, I'll leave it at that. I'm very close with all our staff members.»

McCrossin and Raffa are also members of the staff who travel with the team, to and from away games. Many hours on the road have been spent between themselves and the players.
«I'm very close with everyone in our organization, especially a certain number of guys that travel with us everyday and are there. So yeah, just trying to be a good friend and teammate.»

Mike Yeo was also asked about the situation but gave a very generic answer. Understandable due to it being a legal issue, prying too much on the matter is also disrespectful to the team and players but more importantly, McCrossin and Raffa.
"The organization made a statement on this. Obviously it's a legal situation, so I'm not going to comment on that."

As tough as the road is ahead for the Flyers, nothing is as difficult as what McCrossin and Raffa are going through. We may speculate but not stir any unnecessary rumors. The lawsuit is still ongoing.
