TSN Refuses to Drop Hockey Canada as Sponsor Despite Recent Sexual Assault Cases

One of Hockey Canada's most significant partners has reportedly withdrawn themselves from the organization over the past several months, with the most recent few days suffering possibly the largest blow.

In response to the recent claims of sexual assault made by a number of claimed victims, there appears to have been a lack of action and responsibility, at least in the eyes of the general public. As a result, a number of significant sponsors have increased their distance from Hockey Canada.

The once-proud but now mostly despised organization has lost a total of 8 major sponsors, putting more pressure on Hockey Canada and the federal government of Canada to make significant reforms at all levels of the organization or perhaps to dissolve it totally.

Major sponsors have been leaving Hockey Canada in droves over the course of the past week alone, with the tide turning on Wednesday when Canadian companies Tim Hortons and Telus both released statements announcing that they will be terminating their affiliation with Hockey Canada. The next day, Esso, Canadian Tire, and Chevrolet Canada all made identical announcements regarding their sponsorship deals with Hockey Canada. This bad news was swiftly followed by more terrible news.

«We're deeply concerned by the ongoing reports around Hockey Canada,» wrote spokesperson Sandra Carreon-John in a statement as per The Globe and Mail.

«We'll continue to monitor the situation and await more information regarding Hockey Canada's actions to address the findings in these investigations and create a safe environment for all athletes,» she wrote.
