With Claude Giroux gone, the Flyers will now look to name his replacement for next season. The obvious choice is Sean Couturier. He's the Flyers' best player and has an "A" on his jersey.

Some people also talked about Scott Laughton, who is in my opinion a great option. He's obviously not the best forward on the team, but he gives his all every night. In terms of efforts, he leads by example and is a guy that brings his teammates together. He will not have this pressure put by the fans to produce offensively because he's just not this type of a player. He could 100% concentrate himself on that leadership duty.
But one name that is intriguing me is Kevin Hayes. With Giroux gone, and Sean Couturier being out for the season, Hayes seems to be the biggest leader in the room. We saw him multiple times since his return to play speaking about how he loves being in Philadelphia and how much this organization means to him.
And since coming back from his injury, Hayes is the Flyers' best player with 15 points in 15 games. That's the type of consistency that you're looking for. I see him handling better the pressure from the fans than Sean Couturier.
Whether the Flyers choose Couturier or Hayes, they are both a good fit to fulfill the role of captain. But my preference is Kevin Hayes.
