Readers Beware: This one might hurt a little bit. The Flyers announced this off-season they were just unable to sign a player, AKA Johnny Gaudrea with the salary cap trouble that they are in. Let's look back at some of the unfriendly contracts that were given to player not even half as good as the NJ Native.

Luke Schenn
Cap Hit: $3.6 Million
Expired: After 2015-16 season
Luke Schenn's contract doesn't look as bad as other on the list because of terms and the length of contract. His inability to play defense was the main issue. Getting 5 points in 36 games played in 2015 was the issue. Allowing skaters to just skate buy and becoming a turnover machine- probably was the issue.
Let this sit with you- Marc Staal, John Carlson, Christian Ehrhoff, Erik Johnson and Justin Schultz all have roughly the same cap hit as Schenn. Wow.

RJ Umberger
Cap Hit: $4.6 Million
Expired: After 2016-17 season
This is a horrendous cap hit for an average third line forward, and that's an overstatement. He struggled to score or contribute at all offensively.
He had eight goals and four assists in 46 games in 2015. Umberger was most famous for the video below sadly.....
Now this made me lose my appetite- Enjoy the list of guys who were being paid less than Umberger in 2015- Max Pacioretty, Brad Marchand, Loui Eriksson and David Backes.
Now for the Final player...
Andrew McDonald
Cap Hit: $5 million
Expired: After 2019-20 season
This is the worst contract in all of sports. Andrew MacDonald is a below-average defenseman and looks like an AHL-caliber player on plenty of nights. The guy who was the scapegoat for not getting Shea Weber certainly did not play up to his paycheck. It's hard to exaggerate how bad a deal this is, and even harder to explain why Holmgren signed MacDonald to such a big contract- when it wasn't even needed.
Enjoy and Good night- Ryan McDonagh, Niklas Kronwall, Dan Boyle, Kevin Shattenkirk, Paul Martin and Justin Faulk. ALL MADE LESS.
