With this season nearing its closing, the 2021-2022 season was one to forget for the management and its fans. There is some good news though. Because of how bad the team was, the Flyers will surely be drafting top 5.

In a clear state of a "retool", it's interesting to see what approach Chuck Fletcher and his staff wish to take. Do they want to do like the New York Rangers and turn their ship around in just two years? Or do they wan to settle down for the long haul?
No matter which you prefer, this season indicated to us who is and who is not a part of the future of this team. According to Brandon J Sommermann, these are the locks, semi-locks and the must go's.
Must read on FlyersInsider
"Locks: Couturier / Hayes / Farabee / Atkinson / Laughton / Cates / Tippett / Sanheim / Ristolainen / York"

The locks need just the right amount of youth, leadership and skill. If we can get a full season of healthy Couturier and Hayes, it will do wonders for the young forwards. Especially if we take Wright or Cooley.
"Semi-Locks: Frost / Lindblom / Brown / Provorov / Ellis"

These are guys who will most likely be here next year but will be gone if the right offer presents itself.
"On The Block: Konecny, Gone: JVR"

Konecny might be one to trade at the deadline rather than the summer just because his value is at an all-time low right now. Give him half a season to prove his worth and ship him to a contending team in March.
JVR will be gone.
