Wayne Simmonds Wants to Play for Who?!
Wayne Simmonds was placed on the waiver wire prior to the start of the season, and now he mentions his preferred destination to be the Maple Leafs.
He chose the Maple Leafs because (get this...) he wants to play for a contender.
This is quite comical to me since Wayne Simmonds has just 26 points in his last 111 games as a forward. I don't think those stats belong on a contending team, if any team at all.
The other funny part about this is that he doesn't seem to remember that the Leafs have failed to make it out of the first round in their 6 straight playoffs appearances since 2017.
I don't think Simmonds is in a position to announce where he wants to play, and I don't think the Leafs are in a position to sign a waiver player who has struggled the last couple of years.
