Going into Saturday night's matchup against the Seattle Kraken, many were talking about how the team would respond to Cal Petersen getting the start at goal. With Petersen making his first NHL start since Nov. 11 against the Los Angeles Kings, many were wondering just how sharp Petersen would be. As the Flyers earned their third straight win, Petersen turned some heads with his performance.
As the Flyers cruised to their third straight win, goalie Cal Petersen turned in a stellar performance in a time where the Flyers are desperately needing a number two goalie. Petersen recorded 17 of 19 saves with a .895 save percentage on Saturday night.
Not only did Petersen have a stellar performance, but his focus was on just how good the Flyers D played overall. From Nick Seeler getting the league lead in blocked shots to Ryan Poehling netting another shorthanded goal, the Flyers defense is no doubt the strength of this team.
