The Flyers right now are in the midst of a tight playoff race. They currently hold the third spot in the Metropolitan division, with many teams right on the heels. This seems like the worst time for the injury bug to hit the Flyers yet again, but here we are with only half of our regular D Core out there. The Flyers brought in some defensive help at the trade deadline in Erik Johnson and he admitted that his best years are a thing of the past.

The 35-year-old veteran has played in 53 games this year and has 3 goals to show for it. Johnson is not known for his scoring prowess, but his steady defensive ability. He was brought in to be a veteran presence with playoff experience, as well as to help offset the loss of Sean Walker who was traded to Colorado at the deadline.
The Flyers will need players like Johnson and their other Veteran Marc Stall to step up and steady the blue line until some of the Flyers everyday defenseman get back. They have a tough stretch ahead of them, their toughest of the season, and how they come out of the next week and a half will determine if they have a legitimate playoff shot.
