As time and time goes on, John Tortorella is proving to be the perfect coach for the city of Philadelphia. Tough, hard-nosed, gritty, a dedication to success, and somewhat petty at times, Tortorella and Philadelphia have been a perfect match thus far. Despite being known for his toughness and directness, Tortorella channeled his softer side as the Flyers released a promo that brought smiles to fans faces.
On Thursday, Feb. 27 the Philadelphia Flyers welcome Eastern Conference foe Tampa Bay Lightning to town for a huge matchup. For fans attending the game, the first 10,000 at the Wells Fargo Center will be receiving commemorative Gritty earmuffs.
Known for his fiery press conferences that provide some all-time one liners, sometimes foul language, and short responses, the Flyers used that to their advantage as they placed Gritty in the crowd of reporters, and had him put his earmuffs on anytime Tortorella answered a question.
No matter what the result is on the ice, one thing is for certain and that is that the Flyers have done a tremendous job this season connecting with their fans; something that has been missing for a while.
