The Flyers ended their season on a low after surprising people for most of the year but missing the playoffs is still not the biggest story heading into the off-season.

Towards the end of the season, head coach John Tortorella decided to scratch captain Sean Couturier to prove that everyone is held accountable of how they are playing including their captain. It looks like the move ended up going poorly as not only did it put a strain of their relationship but the Flyers did not react in a positive way as they went 4-7-3 following the scratching.
Tortorella cleared stated that Couturier's comments caught him off-guard which means these two of still on different pages.
"I know what Sean said to you guys after, it kind of caught me off guard a little bit, but I think it's the first time Sean has been through something like that," Tortorella said last Friday. "So it really wasn't a big deal for me. I think it turned into a bunch of drama."

Couturier did state however that the event is behind him and that they are looking forward even though this decision clearly played a big role in the team crumbling at the end of the season.
"I'm sure we'll have some conversations here down the road and we've had some since," Couturier said last Wednesday at his end-of-the-season press conference. "It's all good. We've moved on and we're just going to keep building this team to the next level.

Hopefully the two can patch things up over the summer because the Flyers will need both of them if they plan on improving for next season.
