It's been a long wait for lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev as he returned to NHL action after suffering a lower body injury which kept him out of play for 17 games.

He had high hopes along with the Lightning as they continue to battle for a playoff spot which has been see sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings for the past couple of weeks.
However, during their game against the New York Rangers disaster struck for Sergachev As he became tangled with Rangers forward Alexis Lafreniere in which he suffered a leg injury.

Sergachev tried to finish his check against Lafreniere when his right leg became caught and forced him to fall awkwardly to the ice. His left knee buckled with Sergachev screaming in pain.
It wasn't long that medical staff requested a stretcher which showed a sobbing Sergachev leaving the ice in tears knowing that the injury was severe. This is a devastating blow for the Lightning as Sergachev is a key member of their top 4 in defence. Due to the injuries this year, he has only played 33 games and has two goals in 19 points.
We wish him well and hope he has a speedy recovery.
