In 2024, the NHL instituted the first ever All-Star draft that featured four team captains along with celebrity captains that picked their team on live television, much like the NBA did in years past.

Despite the new format, one NHL superstar used the NHL draft as an opportunity to spend time with family and get some rest and relaxation. As Sidney Crosby chose to skip the All-Star draft on Thursday night. His decision had social media buzzing as a prominent NHL insider called him out on live television.





Although many fans would have probably liked to see Crosby at the All-Star draft, Crosby was still present for the Skills Competition and the All-Star Game on Saturday. Crosby has also done a great amount for the game of hockey and has been an incredible role model over the past decade.
