The Philadelphia Flyers have several young top prospects that we may see play in the NHL in the upcoming years. A top 5 prospect of the Flyers and their top prospect on defense, Oliver Bonk could be in the NHL fairly soon. Per. James Iacovone, Danny Briere was asked about Oliver Bonk, and he stated :

"Expect Bonk to go back for another year of junior. We don't want to rush his development.

Oliver Bonk was drafted by the Flyers in 2023 draft, in the first round, 22nd overall. Oliver Bonk had a great season in the OHL for the London Knights, as he scored 24 goals and 43 assists in 60 games. Now, it is not entirely surprising that Danny Briere wants to give him at least one more season in the juniors as Briere has preached patience with their young players and developing them.
The goal is not to trade top prospects or sign aging free agents but rather build through the draft. Bonk just turned 19 last January, so this is a player that they can wait on and ensure that he is ready for the NHL and is not overmatched. As their top prospect on defense, it will be exciting to see when he is finally called up to the NHL.
