The Philadelphia Flyers had a surprising season for most of the year as they competed for a playoff spot until game number 82. Also, during the season for the Flyers, Garnet Hathaway set the Flyers hit record for one season.
Garnet Hathaway finished the season with 321 hits which is now the Flyers new hits record and the previous record holder was Nick Deslauriers, who set the record himself just last season with 306. Garnet Hathaway, who was signed by the Flyers just last offseason, is known to get under the opposing player's skin and draw penalties, and is also a physical force along the boards. With Garnet Hathaway having another year left on his contract, maybe he can break the record again next year.
