Uniforms are an iconic part of sports that can symbolize history, greatness, and a color of a city. From the silver and black of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders to the pinstripes of the MLB's New York Yankees and then green and white of the Boston Celtics, uniforms are what can directly connect fans to their favorite players. Thursday morning one NHL team in particular released a third uniform that has fans and all of social media buzzing.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been one of the most successful franchises in the past decade. From back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships, three straight Eastern Conference Finals Championships, and iconic players such as Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, and Andrei Vasilevski, the Lightning have captivated hockey fans.

When the organization first began and Martin St. Louis won the franchises first ever Stanley Cup Championship in 2004, the Lightning had black uniforms, that now serve as some iconic throwback threads that fans love.

Thursday morning, the Tampa Bay Lightning revealed a modern twist on the black jerseys, revealing their official black uniforms to go along with their normal blue and white jerseys.

The Lightning are using these jerseys as a tribute to the legacy, featuring three stripes on the sleeve, along with 3D numbers and matte black helmets.

Tampa Bay is set to debut their new threads tonight as they take on the Colorado Avalanche, who spoiled Tampa's opportunity at a third straight ring in 2022.
