The Washington Capitals have officially made a move before the coming deadline. It has been announced that Anthony Mantha has been officially traded to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Before the current season, Mantha was struggling to stay consistent across the board with his performance for the team. After scoring 20 goals with 14 assists for a total of 34 points in 56 games, Mantha has seemed to turn around his strategy. As of July this upcoming summer, he will be an unrestricted free agent.

Mantha joined the Capitals back in 2021. He was traded for Jakub Vrana. After struggling to perform, head coach Spencer Carbery gave Mantha the motivation needed to thrive and make a comeback this year.
Washington is no stranger to making big changes when it comes to trade deadlines, and this only proves exactly that. The team continues to sell pieces and change the course of their seasons to come. MacLellan has assured fans that he would wait for the right price and return, not wanting to trade players for the sake of it.
"It's not, 'Hey, we're going to go out and rent a guy for the playoffs.' We're not in that game. We're here to look for opportunities to find more young players, add more young players to our roster and still compete," MacLellan explained.

"The strategy is the same. We're trying to thread a needle of being competitive and making good trades, and it might go either way on us. Our trade options are for younger, future-type stuff versus older, veteran players."
