SHOULD THE PHILADELPHIA FLYERS ENTERTAIN THIS STAR GOAL SCORER THAT IS AVAILABLE?
BY WILLIAM
The Canucks forward was a bit taken back with the move by his head coach for two reasons. 1) He had played decently with three goals, 11 assists before this matchup. 2) It was hockey fights cancer night in Vancouver and Boeser had just lost his father to the disease in May.
While coaches are paid to win hockey games, as are players, it seemed a really insensitive decision by head coach Bruce Boudreau.
The entire Canucks organization has been in turmoil for a while now, and Boudreau has been rumored to be fired. Stunts like this just may get him placed in the unemployment line.
Well, now that it is official that Boesers' agent can seek a trade for him, it came with much drama that he scored the tying goal in the third period.
For Boeser, he will be looking for a change of scenery in hopes that he can find a better situation. He was criticized for his lack of defense. He carries a -13 +/- stat which is the worst on the team.
So, at this point clubs may be clamoring to see they can trade for the talented forward. He has scored 20 or more goals four times in his seven-year NHL career.
Even with his defensive inadequacies, some team will pick him up. He does carry a $6.65 million cap hit since he signed a new three-year deal in July.
If the Vancouver club wants to move him, they may need to retain some salary to make it happen.
