Today marks the first anniversary, that former Flyers superstar Claude Giroux was traded to the Florida Panthers. In return, the Flyers received the upcoming star, Owen Tippett.

Flyers fans were eager to see what this young man can do and what he would bring to the table, and throughout this season he is certainly not disappointed. With the anniversary and coupled with Saint Patrick's Day, Tippett put on a show for the hometown fans.

Tippett scored a hat trick tonight against the reeling Buffalo Sabres, after a poor breakdown in the Flyers' end Tippett with his impressive speed burst down the remainder of the ice on a breakaway and put it right past the Buffalo goalie with a nifty backhand. As always hats rained down from all corners of Wells Fargo.

After the game, head coach John Tortorella weighs in on his thoughts about Tippett and what he means to the Flyers.

With praise from your head coach, and being a constant danger on the ice it certainly makes this trade worth its weight.

Tippett has played 63 games and has scored 24 goals with 16 assists for 40 points. He currently holds nine power-play goals and 14 penalty minutes.
