Connor Bedard was considered to be the clear #1 pick for the 2023 NHL Draft, but there is a new #1 in town: Adam Fantilli.

Fantilli, a University of Michigan product, has been towards the top for quite some time, but after a strong start to the year, he has earned himself the #1 spot in the rankings, according to Grant McCagg of Recrutes.
Fantilli has 18 points in his team's first 8 games. The 18-year old has been dominating against older competition, so that is most likely a huge reason as to why he earned himself #1 honors.

It is not that Bedard did anything wrong, but Fantilli may have proven he is the most NHL-ready prospect in the draft.
There is a good chance that Bedard and Fantilli fight for that #1 spot for a while, as Michkov (the #3 prospect) most likely won't be taken earlier than pick 3, as he is locked in to a contract with SKA that will keep him in Russia until 2026.
